Online Quran Class: Learn from Expert Teachers
First of all, every teacher must keep an eye on his work, working hard and fear Allah, the Almighty, to get a great reward now and hereafter. They will be held accountable, and everything is written and recorded on his book, so they should strive to fill their record with good deeds. Allah, the Exalted, said: “And let those [fearing Allah] be cautious who, if they left behind weak offspring, would fear for them. So let them fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice.” This verse is directed to all people, not just teachers, as everyone should be mindful of their conscience, treating their work as a legacy for their children and a protection for them from all harm.
The Importance of Learning the Quran from Experienced Teachers”
If you want to memorize the Quran, you must strive hard to find a teacher who is proficient and holds the necessary certifications that enable them to teach the Quran correctly. Recently, there has been a rise in the number of Quran teachers, with many calling themselves as experienced and capable of helping you memorize the Quran. However, many of them are not truly qualified, and their claims are often false, as they are not suited to be teachers of the Quran.
Therefore, a Quran teacher should attend a reputable institute where they can study for nearly four years, and then take additional courses in Tajweed (pronunciation rules) and Tafseer (interpretation) to master Quranic knowledge. Some teachers also strive to master the ten readings (Qira’at) and read many books related to Quranic sciences. These studies elevate them to a high status, raising their reputation and standing among skilled teachers.
Furthermore, as the saying goes, “If you learn something new, pass it on,” teachers should exchange their knowledge, even in small amounts, during every class, so that students can connect their Quran memorization with the additional sciences, which will increase their engagement and interest in memorizing the Quran.
Effective methods used by expert teachers in teaching the Quran:
There are many effective methods, one of which is connecting Quranic verses to illustrations. A chart can be created that outlines the details mentioned in the verses, making memorizing them easier and more straightforward. Storytelling can also be used to help understand the Quranic verses easily, allowing the mind to retain them and ensuring they are never forgotten, no matter how many days pass.
Some teachers focus on the similarities in the Quran. These similarities are verses that share identical parts, often appearing in the same surah or in different surahs. If the learner can memorize these verses, memorizing the Quran becomes much easier, and they will master it to a great extent.
Some challenges the teachers and the students face while memorizing the Quran and how to face these challenges:
There are some challenges that the students and the teachers face while memorizing the Quran, some of them are as follows and also the good way to face them:
First: The frequent absenteeism of some students, affects their ability to follow up on memorizing the Quran, and they may forget to recite some parts correctly as instructed by the teacher. So, both the students and the teachers shouldn’t do this only when needed and necessary.
Second: Useless conversations and repeated questions that may not be relevant to the Quran memorization session, which waste the time of the class. The teacher should stop them from asking such questions and informing them that only useful talk is allowed
Third: Interference from parents in the management of the class, which affects the teacher and puts them in a constant state of tension and a desire to finish the class quickly. The teacher should stop their interference and told them that he is totally aware of the good way of managing the class.
Fourth: Neglect from parents or the students themselves, where they don’t repeat the memorization at home and rely entirely on the teacher to teach them the Quran. This is completely unacceptable, as it results in imperfect memorization of the Quran. If the students do so, the teacher has to decide how they will be punished to never do that again.
Fifth: In the case of younger students, the teacher may fail to include motivational elements that make Quran memorization appealing, leading the students to feel bored and disinterested in the class. The teacher has to get known in such effective ways that make them love attending the class
Sixth – Some teachers are very strict and raise their voices during class, and this should not be one of the characteristics of the teachers of the Quran. This affects the students and makes them unwilling to attend the class and dislike it.
Seventh – The age of some students makes it difficult for them to recall the verses, and they require more time to memorize. A particular surah may need to be repeated over several sessions until it is properly memorized.
Eighth – Some students are illiterate and cannot read or write. In this case, the teacher is forced to teach them the alphabet first and follow up with their Arabic language learning, even to a level where they can only read and write. There is no need to overwhelm their memory with too much in the beginning to avoid burdening them, which might make them reluctant to memorize the Quran.
Ninth – Some students take advantage of the presence of computer screens as a barrier between themselves and the teachers and resort to cheating. This happens because the teacher cannot see the entire space. Here, the teacher must remind them of the words of the Prophet (peace be upon him): ‘Whoever cheats us is not one of us,’ so they will stop this bad habit and understand its ugliness.
There is a great role and significant impact for expert teachers in nurturing generations and making them love the Quran and desire to memorize it. Many current possibilities enable the teacher to change the traditional method of memorizing the Quran, which will effectively impact Quran memorization in the shortest time and with precision. In the end, follow the words of Allah, the Almighty, when He said: ‘Say “And say, “Do [as you will], for Allah will see your deeds, and [so will] His Messenger and the believers. And you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you of what you used to do.”
